The Rams have assembled a very talented offense with respect to skill positions. They have assembled a very talented defense around Aaron Donald. But they still need a few pieces on the D side and they certainly need some more depth, if not another starter on the O line. How high is the OL need vs. the D side need? I suppose it depends on how McVay and Snead view it as well as how they view Aaron Kromer.

In Buffalo and Chicago Kromer took rookies and successfully inserted them in the starting lineup. With the Bills it was John Miller (3rd rd) and Sentreal Henderson (7th rd). With the Bears it was Kyle Long (1st Rd) and Jordan Mills (5th Rd). Both teams had good running backs and successful run games. I can't help but believe, though it would be nice to grab a big ugly early, they don't feel the need with Kromer's abilities to get the most out of lower round picks.

It might be a good idea to make him assistant head coach so nobody grabs him away from the Rams. OL coaches like that are hard to find.

I keep repeating it Pennsylvania......over and over.....IE. even with all that Offensive "skill position talent".....Cooks, Woods, Reynolds, Gurley, Anderson et al......we scored a measly 3 points in SBLIII.

AND THAT WAS BECAUSE OUR HIGHLY-TOUTED OLINE GOT PUSHED AROUND AND COULDN'T GET OUR RUNNING GAME GOING, COULDN'T GIVE GOFF ENOUGH PROTECTION, COULDN'T MOVE THE CHAINS......EVIDENCE: NINE PUNTS AND VERY FEW FIRST DOWNS!!

BTW, I am still with you regarding Garrett Bradbury at #31.

Bradbury is very similar in measurables to B. Allen. His "short" arms say he is best suited at playing C, like Allen. So then, if both these guys are centers and have too short arm length to play guard, why would we draft Bradbury? wouldn't we be better off drafting a tru OG who can cross train at OC and e an interior swing guy if he isn't the 2019 starter replacing Blythe? Or does everyone think Bradbury is a huge upgrade over Allen? He is "rated" higher: instant NFL starter (6.12 grade) to Allen's projection as a back-up (5.26 grade). But Allen has had a year with Kromer and valuable practice reps.

Can either be successful at RG? We need to upgrade Blythe.

A lot of mocks have us going with either Bradbury or McCoy there...

I like to get a bigger Guard. We need to get Austin Blythe out of the RG position. Also, when Whitworth retires, we need to fill the LG position as well, because Noteboom, will be the LT.

Its possible Bradbury will be out of play if they trade down. Adam Shefter reported teams have been in contact with the Rams about their #31 pick. There's a rumor that has Denver offering their #41 and a 3rd. If there is any truth to that I'd go for it.

I've noticed you aren't sold on Blythe. He played pretty well throughout the season. The Superbowl was just a bad game by most everyone on the line. They just got outcoached by a Hall of Fame coach who's been to 9 Superbowls. It happens. Believe me, we could do a lot worse than Blythe.

Bobby Evans was rated fairly high by some....3rd best OT on two lists I saw. David Edwards is a warrior playing through injury. Add to that the 3 UDFA's we signed......Chandler Brewer (G), Vitas Hrynkiewicz (C) and Brandon Hitner (C) and we've got some competition for spots, including backup spots. I like what they did in the draft and after. Plus there's still a possibility they could sign another lineman or two in the second wave of free agency. It's all good IMHO.

I agree, I feel that we are building the OLine. We may add a vet somewhere, but the plan all along was with Three starters I feel are automatic, & are groomed already for the future as starters, Allen (C), Havenstein (RT), & Noteboom(LT or LG), Evans & Edwards taking over somewhere.

Canuck, I love your humor and agree with most of your positions, but not on Kromer. (I realize your post here was a year ago, but I still read that your opinion of him is still the same.)
Yeah, like ALL of our coaches, he could have done a better job in '19. But with 2 rookie starters, another team's castaway, and our 2nd string center, we held the Niners sackless in our 2nd game with them. That was incredible coaching in my eyes. And in that game we got 5 sacks vs. what many consider to be their above average Oline.
Yes, our O line play was very uneven this year, but I'd bet there were only about 4 olines that were truly consistent this year.
We paid dearly for letting Saffold walk, and hopefully we learned from that. With getting Noteboom, and Allen back next year, I think if we take an Olineman in the 2nd or 3rd round to add to our mix, we should have a much improved Oline in 2020. I think, with and including Kromer, we have almost all of the pieces to watch this unit perform much better.
