Gio Urshela and Luke Voit. Cashman ought to get overwhelming kudos for both those trades. And who the hell found Domingo German's inner El Duke? His 7 wins leads MLB and his 2.70 era is 13th. WTF? If not for German, Voit and Urshela, the Yankees might be behind Boston instead of 0.5 games out of the division lead. Speaking on all the injuries and all the unexpected contributors to the effort, one of the talking heads on MLB Channel or ESPN said, "man that's going to be one interesting playoff shares meeting".

Not on the Voit or Urshela level, but I give props to Cash on Tauchman too.
His numbers aren’t flashy but his bat belongs in YS. Won’t make the club when Judge/Stanton/Hicks are healthy (which is basically an oxymoron) but still, he’s been a quality find

He hit a drive off the wall today that just missed being a tater by inches. Got them on the board against the CYA winner. They knocked him out by running his pitch count up to 96 pitches in the 6th. Estrada K'd three time before homering in the 9th. Gio drove in 2 more with a double. They've won 7 of the last 8 series played. Gotta love these subs.

Now they come home 1/2 GB for 3 against Baltimore and 3 more against the Rays. Hicks will be back Monday. And so the restoration begins.

Tauchman hits LH pitching. Funny huh?
Don’t know if they can move him to AAA but sure hope they can keep him. God i hate these rosters at 25
Your boy Kahnle has really turned it around. I didn’t see it happening. Thought he was done. Glad I was wrong.
Again

What I enjoyed as much as anything was Chad Green looking like Chad Greene. They send him down to work on his mechanics and in his first outing it appears mission accomplished. 3 batters, 3 K's on 12 pitches. If he's back to form they're loaded in the pen and that's before Betances returns.

Going to take more than 1 outing but yeah that was great to see.
They fixed Betances when it looked like the wheels fell off his bus, so no reason to think they couldn’t do the same with CG

Certainly more than 1 outing.

Two rain outs in a row. Doubleheader tomorrow. The two days off should help with the pitching schedule. Hicks has to be chomping at the bit!

They traded for Kendrys Morales? Okay a short term rental who can reach the seats, especially in right field.

I can't wait to see the lineup once Didi, Judge and Stanton return. I'd love to see a double stack of top 4 around Didi.

Hicks
Judge
Stanton
Sanchez
Didi
LeMahieu
Torres
Voit
Urshela

Sprinkle Frazier, Gardner and Morales in there (if he's still in pinstripes then). That'd be 13 fielders (with Romine) so how would the pitching fit?

Tanaka
CC
Happ
Paxton (when he returns)
German (until Seve comes back...)

Holder
Cessa (either of those two leaving when Betances returns)
Green
Kahnle
Ottavino
Britton
Chapman

Johnny Lasagna put on the 60 day IL to make room for Morales.

Andujar should have the surgery. He should have done it when it happened. You don't fix a labrum tear with conservative treatment. The latest MRI shows the exact same tear at the exact same stage of injury/healing. With Gio playing at God mode we can have Andujar get himself healthy and come back next season. Even if Gio slows down (its bound to happen) we can have DJ move over. Especially once Didi returns we won't have any issues. It's a no brainer to have a the surgery now and be ready for spring training.

I am concerned about Stanton. Nobody seems to be able to figure out what his injury is. He even saw a specialist here in SoCal and still no clear determination.

You guys mentioned the amazing moves of Gio and Voit by Cashman but we should also mention DJ who I think has been the best move of last summer. Everyone shat on him and Cash when they expected Manny Machado. He has been great. Covers all those positions well and even hits well. Beyond amazed with Cash and his moves lately.

This team is super likable and is doing the stuff that if some other team like the Indians or Padres were doing the media wouldn't shut up about it.

Also Gio Urshela is a God.

Not to mention the stellar contributions from Frazier (who a lot of people doubted), Gleybar and German. So amazing to see all these guys carry us.

Puzzling? It shocked the hell out of me. But Andujar's season has ended. A rent a DH for a month?

LMAO

Frazier has hit well. I expect Torres to step up. German, what a start!! Gio and German, where would we be?

BTW, the Yanks were 6-9 a month ago. Since then 20-7. That's a .740 percentage. Kahnle has his gas back. Hopefully, Green has his control back. I pray Betances arrives before the all star break. There are 47 games before then. We can't expect them to play .740 ball over that span but if they just play what they did over the first 42 (.619) that's 54-34 at the break. I'll take it.

Now if they can win 2 of 3 this weekend, Tampa will leave town in 2nd place and all will be right in the world.
