POST #1 TOPIC AUTHOR They currently sit at 60-56 and last year through 116 games they were 81-35. That's a drop off of 21 games. Meanwhile the Yankees are 74-39 and through 113 games last year they were 71-42. Not much difference (3 games). How do you drop 21 games with the same personnel? Conversely, how do you pick up 3 games with 25 guys spending considerable time on the IL? It's call baseball. And you gotta love it. How shocking would it be for the Red Sox to follow up a 108 win Championship season with no postseason the next year? It shouldn't shock a soul. They haven't won back to back Championships without Babe Ruth on their squad. And the last 10 times they've been in the World Series (regardless of the outcome), they followed it up 8 times sitting home in October. Been following the horns since the Coliseum had a Roman playing there. POST #2 TOPIC AUTHOR The Sawx lost again today. 62-58. If the Yankees go 22-22 to finish the season the Red Sox would have to go 37-5 to force a playoff. Of course if the Yankees go 22-22 the Rays might pass them. Boston certainly is not in an enviable position. They'll be lucky to get one of the wild cards (-7.5 on the 2nd WC). POST #5 They had the magic last year, this year the Yankees have it. Last year the Yankees struggled against Tampa and Baltimore, this year they crush them while Boston is struggling after dominating them. Overall just a weird year for the Sox. It’s like they punted the season from the get go. Had a questionable pen last year, then let Kimbrel and Kelly go and didn’t do anything in free agency. Had a terrible scheduling decisions by first beginning the season with 11 straight road games, Then gave away 2 home games to the Yankees in London. Finally they did nothing at the trade deadline after beating up the Yankees and looking like they were back in it. That lineup is just brutal but they just aren’t clicking.
