Los Angeles a potential Super Bowl candidate for 2020

By SAM FARMER

Los Angeles will be considered a potential host city for Super Bowl LIV in 2020 – provided the market has at least one NFL team by then, The Times has learned.

NFL owners are in San Francisco for their annual meetings, and heard Wednesday morning from team owners backing stadium proposals in Inglewood and Carson.

The league will vote by next May on which city will play host to that game, and the decision partly hinges on who hosts the Super Bowl before it.

Atlanta, New Orleans, Tampa and South Florida are vying to host Super Bowl LIII, and the locale awarded that game will be taken out of the mix for the next year. The remaining three locations will be candidates for the next year, along with L.A., provided a relocation is approved – as opposed to a team unilaterally moving to the nation’s second-largest market without league approval – and at least one team has begun playing in a new L.A.-area stadium by 2018.

Seven Super Bowls have been played in L.A., five at the Rose Bowl, and two (including the first) at the Coliseum. The last Super Bowl to held in Southern California took place at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego in 2003.

The next three Super Bowls will be played in Santa Clara, Houston and Minneapolis.

Yes. I figured he's be there but got a bit concerned by reports yesterday that he wasn't seen. I think this part of his pitch is important. It's also odd that Demoff is repping STL as an employee of ESK. We have heard a lot of noise from SD and StL right before these meetings. Even a few comments re Carson and the Raiders. Where Inglewood seems to be running behind the scenes. Not sure what to make of that.

As it turns out that notion has been refuted although I cannot for the life of me understand why a guy on TV or Ms Zelasko who has a good rep, would put these things out. Their business requires integrity and trust from the public, so it's odd that they would be in such a hurry just to release it first that they'd run the risk of losing that credibility. All or none for what?
