Thomas: Rams' Kroenke Talking to Other Owners More Than in Past

Brendan Marks posted on March 24, 2015 14:39

St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke has garnered the reputation of a silent type who hasn't typically spent time fostering relationships with other NFL owners.

But that's changed this week at the NFL owners meetings with the topic of relocation to Los Angeles at the forefront of the headlines, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

"It's been interesting, not just myself noticing, but a couple of other reporters who go to all (these league meetings), they see Stan talking to other owners more than he has in the past, whether it's in the hallway as they're leaving a meeting room and so on," Thomas told The Hollywood Casino Press Box on Tuesday. "I saw Stan at (a party where they have the media and the owners' families are invited). He doesn't always go there, so in his own way I think very much Stan is trying to work the owners and sell him on his plan."

Thomas said until 2012, he would sit down with Kroenke and talk to him about the Rams' on-field product. But those days are long gone, he said.

"I saw him last night and he said 'Hi.' It was kind of like the old days. He was actually a fun guy to talk to in the old days. He said 'Hey Jimbo.' I kind of got up to maybe follow him, but (Rams COO Kevin Demoff) kind of guided him off the lawn there. He's rebuffed every kind of attempt to talk to him by everybody."

This is an old article Elvis. That from last months meeting. Yesterday he and the NFL declined comment until tomorrow. He clearly wants to leave and if he got punked yesterday I think we start hearing about North Riverfront stadium from Rams releases.

I know it's a little old but i thought it was relevant to what's going on. (And besides, we weren't here when it came out.)

I really think, like Jim Thomas, the deal is done and everyone is just going through the motions. But none of us knows and, really, anything can happen.

I know these are depressing days for St. Louis fans, hanging out on death row hoping for a call from the governor, but for us L.A. folks, it's all pretty exciting.

Oh, btw, i sent you a PM, mainly just to see if it works...

Got the PM. And replied.

I hope beyond hope you are correct. It's hard to sift through all those hopeful or freaked out StL relocation threads. I don't know how to feel as I am fond of many of them. Tomorrow is a very telling day and we may get surprised by what the NFL's LA Opportunity committee imposed on ESK (ie: StL has done too much now or that they favor Carson). If Demoff starts backpedaling then that's a signal.

Mr Kroenke's actions show he clearly want's to restore the Los Angeles Rams, but not for the same reasons we do. What matters is if these other owners and if they want to too.
You'd think so because Inglewood would be the NFL's shining beacon,, literally.. lol

fingers crossed
