Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse
When you're starting back is tabled
Don't grumble, check the stable
And this'll help things turn out for the best
And

Always look on the bright side of life
Always look on the light side of life

From a logistical standpoint, the Rams technically don’t have to pay Akers for this coming season’s lost wages since the injury took place off-site, but the belief is that they will, especially considering Akers is still on his rookie contract. He would have been owed $890,000 this season, and with Akers figuring to be a big part of their plans for the next few years at an incredibly reasonable cost, it would be wise to not stir the pot.

Agreed, but this needs to be addressed. You cant have guys getting injured training away from the team, who knows the risks they are taking not under the teams supervision.

Restructuring the CBA to require off season training under the team’s watchful eye would not be popular with the players. I don’t think this will change.

You could be right, but players must understand the risk then, you cant have your cake and eat it IMO

then you clearly haven't followed talking heads and fan thoughts about stafford, pre or post trade...

google "stafford 100 yards"
rfu search for "100 and yards"

in other news the rams haven't been better than a middle of the pack scoring offense since 2018, since gurley's last all-pro season... speaking of which:

rb targets:

2017 - 87 (gurley, 2nd most on team)
2018 - 81 (gurley, 3rd most on team)
2020 - 38 (akers and hendo combined)

since 2017:

217 - gurley
56 - all other rams rb not named gurley or brown

This really sucks big time.

Of course it sucks most for the kid.

But it also is a huge gut punch for fans. I was so looking forward to watching Akers play this year. I love his game. Can the Rams overcome losing him this year? Perhaps. But it just won’t be the same.

And all this Stafford talk is more agenda driven garbage IMO.

We lost our young and talented RB who was just starting to scratch the surface of greatness. It hurts. I feel it, and no diversion of Stafford BS changes that.

We're in a win now mode. The window is open for a Superbowl team. All we have right now at RB is an oft injured Henderson and guys who have no experience. I think we need a veteran. One who has been durable. They don't need to give the guy 250 carries. Just someone who can split the carries with Henderson and sprinkle in the rookies here and there. That veteran won't be the homerun hitter he used to be. But using rookies is gonna affect the way McVay calls plays. At least the veteran will know what to do when defenses try to blitz.
