Key dates for the Rams' 2021 offseason
Feb 11, 2021 at 10:50 AM
Stu Jackson, Staff Writer

The offseason is already underway for the Los Angeles Rams. Here are the key dates to keep in mind as they prepare for the 2021 season, based on a report from NFL Network's Tom Pelissero on Nov. 18, a tweet from ESPN's Field Yates on Feb. 9 and dates currently listed on the corresponding NFL Operations webpage.

February
- Feb. 23-March 9: Franchise/transition player designation period. While it's possible the Rams use the franchise or transition tag this year, it's also worth noting they haven't done so since 2018.

March
- March 1: Deadline for eligible college football players to notify the NFL Player Personnel department of their intent to forgo the 2021 NFL Draft and return to college.
- March 9: The deadline for teams to designate franchise and transition tags ends at 1 p.m. PT.
- March 15-17: Pre-free agency legal negotiating window between teams and agents of players who will become unrestricted free agents. Some of the Ram's notable unrestricted free agents include safety John Johnson III, outside linebacker Leonard Floyd, center Austin Blythe, tight end Gerald Everett and wide receiver Josh Reynolds.
- March 17: New league year begins at 1 p.m. PT. At this time, trades and other transactions can become official, and free agency begins.

April
- April 6: Newly hired head coaches may begin their offseason workout programs.
- April 19: Start of offseason workout programs for all other NFL teams.
- April 23: Last day of restricted free agent signing period. Rams cornerback Darious Williams and tight end Johnny Mundt are both restricted free agents.
- April 28: Last day to match offer sheets for restricted free agents. For the Rams, this means that if either Williams or Mundt are signed to offer sheets by other teams, this date is the deadline to decide whether they want to match them and retain Williams and Mundt, or let them walk and receive compensation based on each player's tender.
- April 29-May 1: 2021 NFL Draft.

Post says nothing about TC. Will the first part still be in Irvine? Somewhere I read their contract is up and all TC will be in Northridge. Long drive for me so looks like I'll be camping out in the RV somewhere near. Not going to miss any if fans are allowed.

C ya there Steve. 8-)

Northridge? Where exactly? Cal State Northridge doesn’t have the facilities last I was there.

We don't know how much of the off season is going to be virtual again this year or how much fans will be allowed to attend camp.

Also, if not in Irvine, it's entirely possible camp will be somewhere with limited or no fan attendance...

NFL unveils structure of 2021 offseason program
Apr 14, 2021 at 12:32 PM
Stu Jackson, Staff Writer

The Rams and the NFL's other 31 teams now have a clear picture of what this year's offseason program will look like.

Unveiled by the league Wednesday via a memo sent to each team, the nine-week program will begin Monday, April 19 and run through Friday, June 18. The entire program is voluntary, with the exception of one mandatory minicamp.

Here's a closer look at each of the three phases that will make up the program:
Phase 1 – Four weeks (April 19 to May 14)

- The first phase will include virtual meetings, up to two hours per day at team's discretion.
- No on-field drills or work with coaches
- Facility and weight room capacity limits remain in place.
- Teams will make every effort to have the vaccine available for players, families, and families during the first phase.

Phase 2 – One week (May 17 to May 21)

- Virtual meetings
- On-field drills with coaches allowed, as dictated by CBA rules – meaning no contact/teaching pace
- Rookie Football Development Programs may begin Monday, May 17 – five days per week for a period of seven consecutive weeks; no mandatory or voluntary activities on weekends except for the team's three-day post-draft rookie minicamp. All Rookie Football Development Programs will end Friday, July 2.
- Rookie minicamps can be held the first or second week after the NFL Draft (the draft is scheduled to take place April 29-May 1 in Cleveland, Ohio).

Phase 3 – Four Weeks (May 24 to June 18)

- Ten traditional organized team activities – full speed, but no contact
- Meetings can be conducted virtually or in-person
- Includes mandatory minicamp

COVID-19 protocols for the program include:

- Daily testing with Mesa test

- Staff vaccination protocols
- Other regular season protocols in place, such as masks, distancing, etc.

There is no change in Rookie Football Development Program or post-draft Rookie minicamp.

During yesterday's OTA's McVay made it be known TC will again be at Irvine.
I plan to attend most, if not all of the practices.
