last year the folks at pff ranked higbee 3rd best among tight ends, and he finished tied for 6th in targets, 6th in receptions and 7th in yards... among the 10 tight ends who saw the most targets in 2019, higbee ranked 2nd in catch % behind kittle and 2nd in yac average behind kittle... the one area that higbee didn't rank high in, though no fault of his won, was depth of catch (nor did kittle for that matter) - unlike guys like kelce, henry and andrews who averaged 8+ yards in depth of catch, higbee was at 4.9, and only one of two tight ends in the top 10 in targets whose average depth of catch was below 5 yards... in other words the rams didn't throw deep to him a lot.

Great move and very forsightful to have him under contract for the best years of his career. Its hard to project his numbers with his being targeted from week 1 like he was the last 5 or 6 games of the season. They may be underpaying him.

McVay has a history of good TE play in his offense. Truly hope Higbee is able to keep his play at a high level for the foreseeable future.

And it's such a short history, 6 years. Last year he had his second highest TE production (for 2 TE)....106 rec for 1142 yards. The best was 110-1268 (2016) with Jordan Redd and Vernon Davis. Now I'm not saying we have a Jordan Reed and Vernon Davis but damn, it's close. Which actually says something good about Higbee and Everett. Man if they both stay healthy all year, they're going to be a force.

Just for shytes and giggles, where did they have him ranked as a blocker? I mean among TE's who can actually catch the ball.

Is that the ranking? Kelce and Higbee tied?

That would be something if Higbee could maintain that level of production. My impression is that he isn't on Kelce's level yet but if the numbers say he is...

They probably shouldn't have non-qualifiers on their list. McElroy only played 1 game last year but is ranked #2 overall! ;)

Higbee a much better run blocking grade than Hooper, Waller, Dissly and Cook. Not surprising. They are "receiving tight ends". Higbee and Kittle are all around tight ends. Great value on that contract, eh?

actually there's not a number next to mcelroy's name, nor next to dissly's name for that matter, because they didn't play enough snaps to be "officially" ranked, but pff still wanted show where these guys "ranked" in their limited play.

that said, their new layout sucks, in the past guys that didn't play enough snaps would be listed at the bottom, after guys who played enough snaps to qualify, but even worse is they switched to using tables for their data, a la next gen stats, which makes it almost impossible to copy/paste the data into spreadsheets, alas...
