Rams promote Sophie Luoto to run football operations department

Long-time staffer becomes top female executive on football side of team's front office

The Rams have named Sophie Luoto director of football operations, making her the top female executive on the football side of the team’s front office.

The move, first reported by Yahoo’s Charles Robinson and confirmed by a Rams executive, fills the job left vacant when Bruce Warwick left in late December to become chief of staff for Florida State football.

Luoto had been manager of football administration in the Rams’ player-personnel department.

In her new role, Luoto will be responsible for day-to-day management of football operations, including running the Rams’ training headquarters in Thousand Oaks, training camp and team travel.

A UCLA graduate, Luoto was director of recruiting operations for Cal football before joining the Rams in 2016 as they moved from St. Louis to Los Angeles.

Her promotion was greeted warmly by Rams players, including quarterback Jared Goff, who tweeted: “Most deserving. Congrats @sophieluoto!!”
