Damn it! Think of the greatest DT's in the history of the NFL. Olsen, Lilly, Randle, Sapp...they ALL played in a 4-3 D. It's simple, it means there is one less O guy to block AD, AND he lines up much closer to the QB.
Put his ass inside, over an OG and he will absolutely destroy O's. Now, he is further outside, vulnerable to T/E chips, and it's easier to slide the line.
After this year, It's time for Ol' Wade to retire..............let's go after someone like Ron Rivera as our DC

He plays 3 tech, for the most part... and they move him around the line as any coordinator would do in any defense to keep the O off balance.

Exactly. His versatility makes him confounding ...
"Strawest of strawmen".. lol
Still like the good ol' 4-3

yep, it's like saying mcvay is one dimensional because he ran out of 11 personnel 90% of the time from 2017-2018, when in fact the rams showed and ran a ton of different looks from the grouping.

I’m in with the prefer the 4-3 crowd but fer sure that stat is fairly irrefutable

AND, since he did set the all-time sack record for an interior D lineman, shouldn't we give him even better odds to succeed? Who's to say he wouldn't have had more, being that much closer to the QB? Dick, how in the world could they assign a triple team to him?

fwiw, fielding a 3-4 defense doesn't mean that 3-4 teams tend to rush 3 guys instead of 4 like their 4-3 brethren... for example, last season:

rams 3-4:
rushed 3 - 5% of the time
rushed 4 - 75% of the time
rushed 5 - 16% of the time

patriots 4-3:
rushed 3 - 13% of the time
rushed 4 - 59% of the time
rushed 5 - 19% of the time

A talent like Donald is going to be moved around in either the 3-4 or 4-3. You can debate the merits of which one is better, but I don't think it makes a difference when it comes to Donald. Maybe other players.

. In the 4-3 you bring in a nickel and a safety into each A-gap. In the 3-4 you put a LB on each edge and blitz with a safety. . Either way there's 6 that the O-line has to account for.

Which defense takes a bigger chunk out of the salary cap?

Dude, Wade’s version of a 30-front is really a 4-3 under front. He is very multiple. It makes zero difference if we have a 4-3 guy or this hybrid 3-4 scheme. Donald plays the 3, 5, 7, and wide-9 techs. Get a better coach? Sure. Scheme, at least for AD, is almost irrelevant.
