CAN THE RAMS STOP LAMAR JACKSON?

the ravens have opened games by attacking teams on the ground, no team has a lower first half pass ratio than the ravens through week 11, in fact the ravens are the only team that has attempted to pass the ball less than 50% of the time in the first half, and a big part of that is due to jackson taking off with the ball.

the ravens have dropped back to pass just 47.5% of the time in the first half, while jackson has rolled to 437 first half rushing yards on just 63 carries (6.9 avg) - all told, jackson has accounted for 75% of the ravens' first half offensive yards.

the flipside is ravens opponents have thrown the ball a ton against them in the first half, to the tune of 67% of the time on average, which is well above the league average... here's to hoping that both sean and wade draw up something great!

Our team has some experience against running QB's in division with Wilson. Deploy some of the same tactics used against the Hags.
Pressure and containment will be tough sledding just as it is against Wilson.

But you never know, those running QB's seem to disappear a lot before their time.

Ingram can pound it too.

We have to control the line and warm up the fast feet.

I expect a frustrating day but this is the NFL.

This is a tough assignment for any team right now, similar to blocking Aaron Donald. I’d think a spy on him all the time and pushing the pocket to the short side of the field. Containment, containment, containment 🤔🤔🤔

Wilson frustrates cuz he shouldn’t be able to do what he does, you beat the o line, you got guys covered and he does a couple spin moves and runs around til somebody gets open. Lamar is rushing as part of the plan, when they do they have numbers so what can you do but commit more guys and now he gets one on one coverage.
I still don’t think he’s as polished a passer as guys like Wentz, Goff or Mahomes, but he doesn’t need to be if they can dictate when they want to throw. The good news is that the defensive player of the week can destroy your run or pass game, we just need him to be under control and not run himself out of plays.

The thing that concerns me is our DC likes his defenders to play man press on the receivers. With a running quarterback its hard to react with your back to him. They will need some speedy guys like Littleton or Rapp to spy him and try to limit the damage he does with his feet. Jackson is gonna get rushing yards. They wont shut that down. Just try and limit it as much as they can and make him throw as much as they can.

I think we will see more off-man and a lot of zone. I don’t know how Lamar stacks up against fast defenses that can play well with the secondary facing the LOS most of the time.

Get takeaways and keep Hekker from being Rams player of the game and I like our chances. Jackson is going to get yards on the ground but I can live with that if we get points on the board.

Tackle. Prevent Jackson from making any of those highlight reel runs where the whole team misses and make him go through his reads, not just find the TE.
The pass rush has to be disciplined, it’s hard for one guy to get him down and if you run yourself out of the play he’ll run right through the hole you left.
The Rams front is better than the Pats, I think, and their defense as a whole is better than the Texans. I’m hoping the Rams can keep their offense in check.
