but isn't that Snead's own fault? Or is that besides himself?

In the McVay era:
2017 1st round pick brought Jared Goff
2018 1st round pick garnered Brandin Cooks
2019 1st round pick garnered... 100 trades give or take
2020 1st round pick landed Jalen Ramsey

How can we say the Rams haven’t used their 1st rounders wisely in the McVay era?

The 2017 pick spent on Goff landed Tennessee Corey Davis who has been an OK WR
The 2018 pick for Cooks landed Isaiah Wynn for the Pats, who has been on IR both years and played a total of 2 games

Me thinks the Rams are ahead

Your argument is valid. The 1st round picks were spent (wisely spent?). But they were spent before the draft.

In the last FOUR drafts .... instead of having FOUR 1st round picks and FOUR 2nd round picks ... the Rams had only ONE 1st round pick and TWO 2nd round picks.

And rumor has it that the Rams won't be having a 1st round pick in 2020 nor in 2021.

Interesting strategy being implemented by the Rams.

Draft day just isn't as fun as it used to be.

We're the anti money ball team and so far it's working. Maybe this will become the new money ball. We'll see...

NFL Coaching legend, (and Rams HC when I fell in love with The Horns in 1967), George Allen used the expression "THE FUTURE IS NOW!" when he used to get criticized for trading his Draft Picks for veteran NFL players...

....so Les Snead's approach is not ground-breaking nor new.

But, it seems to be effective, no?
Considering we missed the Playoffs from 2005 to 2016 inclusive :oops2: HELL, ACTUALLY EVEN missing a friggin WINNING SEASON 2004-2016 :o :arrow2: :roll2:

....um, Les Snead's wheeling and dealing (and even purloining) for players like Andrew Whitworth, John Sullivan, Austin Blythe, Robert Woods, Sammy Watkins, Suh, Aqib Talib, Marcus Peters, Eric Weddle, Brandon Cooks, Clay Mathews, Dante Fowler, Austin Corbett and now Jalen Ramsey....I mean who can argue with the improved W-L results huh??? :idea2:

Looking at Los Ramos 12-4 in 2017, and 13-3 and a SB appearance in 2018.....when contrasted against the empty & demoralizing 2005 to 2016 Era......well, that'd be yer "extremely dramatic improvement" right there sportsfans!!! :idea2: :arrow2: :!2:

One worries about the HUGE salaries (and their future implications) of Goff, Gurley, Cooks, Donald, Ramsey et al.....but I put that onus//blame on Demoff and Pastoors. :idea2:

To use Bill BigTuna Parcells old analogy.....Les Snead picks the groceries that Sean McVay has to make the dinner with........BUT IT IS DEMOFF & PASTOORS WHO DECIDE HOW MUCH TO PAY FOR THOSE GROCERIES....AND WHAT'S MORE....THE SHELF-LIFE OF SAID GROCERIES! :idea2:

Very good post. Bottom line you need to get good players via trades, FA market and draft. I think Les and his team have done a good job overall. Nothing will be perfect.

Les Snead and his Scouts/Talent Evaluators' work has been, as we used to say in the military....
"well within the acceptable range"!! 8-)

I still do not get how Les Snead got Miami to take a Rams 5th Round Pick in 2020 (IIRC) in exchange for eating $4.5 Million of Aqub Talib's remaining 2019 Salary Cap hit........and Talib is on IR, and can only come back to play for the last 2 regular season games in 2019.

Some capologist out there understand that one, and splain it to me? :?2: Do the Fins want Talib to mentor their young DBs in 2020 and beyond??

Puzzling to me what the Dolphins are getting out of that exchange. :?

I understand that Miami's salary cap is $197 Mill .... )$188 mill + 2018 rollover of $6 mill and another adjustment of $3 Mill)

Which puts Miami's salary floor at $175 Mill. And currently they have only spent $171 Mill ... including Talib's dead money.

Those are just some rough figures. So maybe Miami will be able to avoid possibly losing a draft pick for not spending enough.

I feel trolled ... ok not really ... but I take your "compare" quote as a challenge. ( in all good fun)

Non-first round picks by Mike Mayock this season.

Foster Moreau
Maxx Crosby
Hunter Renfrow
Trayvon Mullen

Raiders first-year players lead all teams rookies in touches (270), scrimmage yards (1,676) and scrimmage TDs (14). Oakland is the first team since the 1970 merger with seven-plus rush TDs and seven-plus receiving TDs by rookies in the first 10 games of a season, per NFL Research.

Gotta respect how rookies Crosby and Mullen gets honored along side of Rams Legend Aaron Donald for week 11
