Dick,,,,

What are you talking about?

I re-watched the tape....

SJD was actually playing his position correctly,,,

He is clogging up the middle, taking up space...

The rest of the O-line needs to rush the QB or fill in the gaps on running plays.

When he was in there,,,, not one run was up the middle...

The minute he comes out,,,, and we brought in the extra safety....

That's where we got screwed,,, especially a guy like McCaffrey,,,,

How many times when SJD came out,,, they had the middle open, likes its a pass play,,, and then McC gets the rock and runs right up the gut free..

We can't do that against the Saints, with Kamara, he will run wild....

If by chance Mike has a relative named David in Lawrence, KS. please ask Mike to remind the dead-beat David Purcell that he still owes me $1200.

He got little-to-no penetration and did just okay on taking on blocks. His PFF grade reflected what I saw.
Purcell.. in preseason and this week.. has been getting good penetration and is a load to move at 328. I've not been impressed with a performance by SJD yet... in preseason, or this week.
McVay's comments about him make me think the team is seeing the same thing.

I didn't hear McVays comments,,, which press conference was that?

Cause before the season started,,, my understanding, they wanted SJD just to concentrate on holding down the fort, and don't concern himself of getting to the QB, that's what the other linemen are for...

That's what I saw, him clogging up the middle,, and the linemen, OLB and ILB are their to fill the gaps...

Ok I found the transcript:

(On DT Sebastian Joseph-Day’s first start)

“Solid, I thought he was solid. I think there is some things that he can certainly do at a higher level. For the most part, with his assignments and what he was asked to do within each call that we were running on defense, he did a fairly good job.”

Personally in what McVay stated,,,,

Is exactly what I saw,,,

He did a solid job as a NT...

Clogging up the middle,,,

Could he do better??? yes but I think that will come in time...

I can't remember where I heard it,,,
but they want him to concentrate on clogging up the middle...

Wade had him basically staying inside,,,
He wasn't involved in any studs,,,
Those were saved for the others, as in AD and Fowler,
Matthews and Brockers,
and at times he was being double teamed and still holding the fort down...

I'm not going to be too concern with SJD....
I think we'll be fine,,,

As far as Sean McVay praise goes, that was kinda lukewarm...

Maybe he is doing that on purpose, to motivate him to get more of a push up the middle to the QB on passing downs so the QB can't step up and to collapse the pocket....

Cause from what I saw on running plays,,, he was solid at NT...

Nothing came threw the middle when he was in there...
and the minute he wasn't in there,,,, here come McCaff, right up the gut...

Its just like when McVay told AD,,, because he was frustrated not getting to the QB....
And McVay tells him you're taking one for the team for getting double teamed, cause you're still valuable and that leaves the others open to get to the QB.... (Fowler, Matthews, Brockers and Ebukam)…..
