Honestly? No, I don' t. I think he was making, at best, an educated guess.

As of now, Todd Gurley and Malcolm Brown both have a YPC average of 5.3. I think that, whatever the long term plans are for Henderson, right now we're in a "it ain't broke..." phase.

I would assume so yeah.

And as with all things in the news, the latest trumps the earlier bits. So that seems to add up to VB first saying they had plans for him and then saying he isn't coming through enough yet to be counted on.

Would VB say a player was not applying himself the way he should if there's any chance he could be wrong or mistaken? That would be kind of a rotten thing to do.

So you think that the Rams had a plan to give DH 9-12 touches/per game at the end of preseason, but his practice habits have been so bad since then that they decided to scrap that plan and give him only 2 snaps in the first two games?

Seriously?

Vinnie guessed at the number of touches DH would get.
Vinnie is guessing about why he's played so little.

He may have more access to information then we do, but its still limited. He fills in the blanks with opinions. Those opinions may be wrong.

How are you not getting this? :roll2:

I stand corrected. Rapp may indeed be a difference maker. I’m hopeful and he sure looks the part early on.

If we get a couple more players who are at least solid starters then it’s a fine draft.

To expect 5 or more solid plus players from a draft is unreasonable.

The night before the Carolina game Vinny said he heard there was a plan for Henderson to have a package of plays in certain situations in the game. But he also said, we will find out tomorrow how comfortable the Rams are with him. Vinny said it like he wasn’t sure it was going to happen. He had reason to believe it wasn’t a sure thing for whatever reason.

Obviously, Vinny doesn’t know how McVay feels about his players, McVay isn’t letting anyone outside know that. He’s piecing things together based on what his sources tell him and what McVay does. Is he guessing? Sure, but his guesses are based on more inside information than any of us have.

Of course. I don't think anyone here denies that.

But that's a far cry from treating his comments as hard facts. Its entirely possible that he was simply wrong about the immediate plan for DH, and his usage in games 1 and 2 has nothing to do with his progress as a player.

All I'm suggesting is patience. If, after several games, DH is still riding the pine, perhaps that might mean something (though if we're 8-0 and Gurley/Brown are still averaging 5+ ypc, perhaps not). Let's just let it play out.

You get that from this:

My sense is he needs to sharpen up be more urgent in how he goes about his business every day. I wouldn't read too much negative into that.

...

No one has completely said that, but sense is there has been an adjustment for him in terms of how it works at this level in all phases.

"My sense," "No one has completely said that," this is somehow definitive for you?

Your idea of a logical conclusion blows my mine...

Sure, patience is a virtue, right?

There will be plenty of time to assess what we’ve got in DH at the BYE.

I’m as guilty as anyone of jumping the gun on stuff. I know I do it a lot, love to predict stuff before anyone else.

Funny story...

I started playing chess at a cafe where many guys have played for years. Since I’m an old tournament player I am much better than them. I began by trouncing some of the established players to the point where they avoided playing me. I told my wife and she said, you’re there to make new friends, right? Now what’s more important making friends or wining all the time? I started “easing up”, and it’s much better.

Well if he's not right he's trashing a player in public based on nothing.

Saying those things comes from hearing or seeing something or both.

I would say it's quite an accusation against a reporter to say he would spread something like that based on nothing.

In fact it;s so much of slam against the player if it's not true, you're giving me a hard time for believing it. It can't just be, okay we differ on that. It's more like I challenge you winner take all style to see you MUST be wrong. 8-)

I don't believe VB would say something like that unless he saw or heard something (or both). If I can't convince you...cool. But I don't believe VB would slam a player that way based on nothing.

I don’t believe Vinny would do that either. And it makes no sense. It would damage his relationships that he’s worked hard to build within the Rams organization.

What’s worse is posters accusing Vinny of slandering a player with nothing behind it.
