I guess that’s why Mike Thomas only caught 7 passes for 70 yds in his rookie season (also 2017) thus losing his job to “Tommylee Lewis” who caught 14 for 167 and a TD in the same time?

so that's your "concern"? that kamara was 9 for 96 with the saints 1s during the 2017 preseason while henderson was only 6 for 13 with the rams 2s this past weekend?

how did kamara do for the 2018 preseason, you know, with a year's worth of nfl experience under his belt? did you like what you saw? how about brees' preseason when kamara was a rookie, his 84.3 qb rating, did that have you worried too?

Its impossible to judge Henderson based on the game. The line was a mix and match be design. McVay probably knew they weren't going to be able to execute very well. Blocking was not there. I wouldn't be surprised if they continue that strategy throughout the preseason.

I think we're going to have to wait until the regular season to know if Henderson is ready to take on a bigger role. And that might take a few games.

Henderson has gotten plenty of reps with the 1's in practice and scrimmages/joint practices.

Just because it's not on tv doesn't mean it's not happening...

@justinlewen: @JMoyerFB @AllbrightNFL I can’t imagine you can tell a lot from 6 carries in his first game. Mcvay has probably spent a big part of the offseason designing plays to fit his skill set , much of which you won’t even begin to see in a pre season game

@JMoyerFB: @CapnHuggyFace The Rams’ wide zone theoretically is a great fit. Decisive acceleration and excellent contact balance were his strengths in college, and apply well in the wide zone. His skill as an inside zone runner was hard to eval bc Memphis just didn’t really do it.

@DFF_Blizzard: @JMoyerFB this is difficult because it is a split zone, so technically he is running to the right spot because that cut back is designed into the play. Not all bad. Would definitely be nice to see him be patient to give himself a chance to actually use his vision.

@DFF_Blizzard: @JMoyerFB big mistake RBs make on that kind of play is not pressing hard enough before making the cutback. If you don't press that left side, the LBs won't flow as hard and the angles won't set up as nicely for the OL. And if you don't press that side you might miss a giant hole like that

So a fantasy football analyst is questioning how Henderson fits in the Rams' scheme?

Here's what Henderson's college coach said about the fit (with some commentary from sportswriter Ryan Kartje):

It was a perfect marriage, he thought.
“I don’t know if there’s a better fit in the NFL for him than the Rams,” Norvell said.
Norvell had already digested hours of the Rams offense over the past year, gleaning what he could. He noted how similarly he and McVay used running backs, deploying them all over the field. Memphis handed off to its backs out of shotgun formation more frequently. But like the Rams, the Memphis offense subsisted on a heavy dose of outside zone runs, which asked backs to run off tackle while patiently reading the defense before cutting upfield.
The Rams ran more outside zone than any other team in the NFL last season. That scheme can be a difficult adjustment for some backs, but for the 5-foot-8 Henderson, it shouldn’t be an adjustment at all. Over the past two seasons, according to Pro Football Focus, he led all of college football with a staggering 10.7 yards per carry on such runs. Highlight reels offer endless examples of how Henderson’s extraordinary vision could translate to an NFL zone blocking scheme.

So everything worked out great. When I was talking to them, everything was clicking and we developed a relationship. So who has it right? Everything I have read up to this point (Moyer's comment) has indicated that he's a great fit for the Rams' zone blocking scheme.

I'm going to have to cast doubt on Moyer's analysis here.

I think it’s fair to cast just about anyone’s analysis in doubt at this point. I’m just wondering how it will all pan out. Waiting for confirmation in the form of on field performance.

You know, trust but verify.
