I'm not suggesting that there is anything wrong with it. I tried taking up golf when I was in my 20s, but I found myself more interested in spotting birds (I'm an avid birder) than shooting birdies.

I am certainly not questioning your athletic abilities or your golf acumen but if you're like the rest of us hackers (and I don't see why you wouldn't be), I don't think you were ever in danger of shooting birdies on a consistent basis!!!

Golf is fun if you don't take it too seriously. It's outdoors in great scenic surroundings. It's 4 and a half hours where you may hit 3 or 4 terrific shots and 1 or 2 beautiful putts. You may see your playing partners do the same and you will certainly see them hit some lousy shots. Those are the ones you remember (your good and their bad ) when the day is over and that should be enough. If it's not, you're taking it too serious and ruining all the enjoyment.

the live streaming coverage of the masters over the internet was absolutely tremendous - masters.com, cbs's special / dedicated masters section of their website, the golf channel and espn via hulu, etc., you could have multiple webpages open on a large screen, each one with unique in-depth graphics, live coverage, commentary and story lines... it really illustrated the advantages of online streaming, and the direction content delivery is headed.

Direct tv despite all its flaws, has been on top of this aspect for years. I am a huge fan of golf, despite not playing any more.
For many tournaments during the season, they offer a mosaic channel which offers multiple viewing options.

The Masters is particularly awesome as they have dedicated channels for Amen Corner and holes 15/16

At my age its the only sport I can participate without injuring something. I just wish I didn't suck at it.

I can relate to this 100%. It is challenging to be sure.

We've got 4 water sources on our property which draws in birds of all types. Very relaxing to watch them. We are thinking of putting up a nesting box for Barn Owls, but the rulers of the night sky, Great Horned Owls, are in our neighborhood and they will kill other owls.

A lot of my pictures (including the osprey and barred owl I posted) were taken here in Florida. We have a lot of wetland and wooded preserves that are great for birders.

I have also done a lot of birding during my travels. I took the picture of the white-throated kingfishers (first photo) in Jerusalem, Israel. The white hawk was taken in the Cayo District of Belize.

Very cool. The 2nd picture, I assume to be the white hawk, looks like you are at the same level as his nest. How did you get that angle since I would think the nest would be high up?
