If they base it the same as last year with 32 comp picks...

Joyner is already out of the top 5%, falling into the 4th round pick....

I'll take that.... :D :D :D

Save money... check.
Get a better player... check.
Get a draft pick in return... check.

Winning!

Excellent deduction .... Raiders are negotiating with Tre Boston today ... If that works out then Joyner will be the nickel

But BobCarl....isn't $10.25 Million per year (4 years = $41M :shock2: )....isn't that a tad high for a Nickel CB?? :?2:

Just sayin'.

Even with Weddle, we need to add a safety (starting quality) this draft or next off season. I do like Les' compensatory pick focus when signing and not re-signing players.

I agree with you.

The Raiders suck so bad that they have to overpay.

Also ... these days the Nickel Defense is on the field more than it is not. Two games against Joe Flacco, two games against Patrick Mahomes, and two games against Phillip Rivers.

Who knows, maybe they will have a cover-3 base defense. LOL

Especially sounds high for a nickel cb who looks up to Tavon Austin. Who, by the way, would make a fantastic edge rusher if used as such on maybe a half dozen plays a game. Too quick and fast to block.

Maybe Karl Joseph will be part of a draft day trade, no telling at this point.

When you put Paul Guenther, Mike Mayock, and Jon Gruden in the same room and give them a big pile of monopoly money, crazy shit is going to happen.

$16.7 million fully guaranteed for Lamarcus Joyner
Posted by Mike Florio on March 13, 2019, 7:09 PM EDT

Lamarcus Joyner made $11.287 million last year under the franchise tag, with the Rams. Over the next four years, he’ll make $42 million with the Raiders — assuming the Raiders keep him for all four years.

Per a source with knowledge of the contract, Joyner will receive $16.7 million fully guaranteed under the deal. The full details appear below.

1. 2019 roster bonus: $4 million, due on the fifth day of the league year.

2. 2019 base salary: $4.7 million, fully guaranteed.

3. 2020 roster bonus: $8 million, fully guaranteed as of the seventh day of the 2019 league year.

4. 2020 base salary: $4.6 million, guaranteed for injury at the time of signing and fully guaranteed as of the third day of the 2020 league year.

5. 2021 base salary: $9.6 million.

6. 2022 base salary: $9.7 million.

7. 2019-22 workout bonuses: $350,000.

The total guarantee is $21.3 million. As a practical matter, he’ll get it all; otherwise, the Raiders will end up paying him $16.7 million for one year.

It definitely is overpay. Gruden thought he was unhappy with his secondary last year, well good luck this year. No bagging on Joyner, I just don't think he is worth that kind of money, not even based off a good 2017. I do wish him well, but think it was time to move on after an uninspired performance last year after getting a huge payday. I'm glad the strategy in no tags this year. Look at the money wasted on Johnson and Joyner the last 3 years.

that part made me sick, especially the tags put on Johnson. I would have let him walk.
