Since when does the NFL give in/settle? To me it sounds like Kaepernick and Co. might have actually had proof.

Either that or the owners threw in a million or so each so nobody would have to testify in open court.

Um... no.

Most cases settle. That does not mean the case has merit or proof. It simply means that both parties agreed that a confidential monetary resolution was a better option than continuing to litigate.

Given that Kaepernick started all of this to make a public point about social justice issues, his decision to take some money and go away quietly seems, well... shall I say contrary to the image he has been trying to cultivate.

For the NFL, whatever they paid is pocket change.

Ian Rapoport@RapSheet
Colin Kaepernick’s lawyer announces a resolution to the pending grievances. A stunner

People falling for fake stories about Kaepernick and $20mil AAF demands. Whatever you think about him as a player or person, that bs story isnt true

Wonder who “leaked” it right ahead of the settlement announcement though?

NFL likely is paying BIG money to keep secret any deposition transcripts, text messages, emails, etc. that may have shown an effort by the league office to discourage teams from signing Kaepernick.

Agreed. It had already been ruled that CK had enough evidence to proceed with the thing.

And that will be the story this move generates. That the NFL was avoiding public disclosures.

Geez... for someone who apparently has a law degree, Florio comes up with some of the dumbest takes on legal issues. Of course, in this case, he's been a Kaepernick supporter for months, so he's spinning to fit his own agenda.

Suffice to say, his conclusions about the nature of the evidence are based upon his speculation, and there is absolutely no reason to presume merely because the case settled that Kaepernick had smoking gun evidence. Its equally likely that it settled because they lack such evidence, knew that the case was going to fail, and cashed out while they could.
