Before the Super Bowl, he watched an episode of Peyton Manning’s Detail series on ESPN-Plus on Goff, and it hit him right away—the offense is the same. Looking at the Rams tape confirmed it. Then, he saw an NFL Network interview where Goff and McVay discussed the coach being in the quarterback’s ear up until the 15-second play-clock cutoff, which was something Shanahan did with Hoyer. Then, Hoyer went back to Amazon’s All or Nothing series on the Rams; it was about the 2016 season but had footage of OTAs from McVay’s first spring there. Hoyer recognized the language.

I still don't understand why all coaches don't have an entirely different backup plan at the ready? At least a small package of plays that are totally unrelated. Stealing signals and plays is just too much of a thing to not have a plan B.

I think it comes down to a couple things; A. meticulously studying and understanding your opponent and B. Having the ability to actually game plan differently each week like the Pats seem to do. Clearly, one cannot get too far away from what they are comfortable designing and calling - based on the talents of the players involved. But, there has to be a way to mini-evolve your offense week to week by adding 5-10 plays that you simply have not shown before and that look different enough to catch the opposing D off guard.

He does make in game adjustments.

He just didn't find the cure in the Patz game.

That does not mean he NEVER makes adjustments.

I just can't except the notion the Bears laid the blue print for slowing our offense down.
In '99 they said the Bucs figured the GSOT out by beating the shit out of our WR's at the line of scrimmage in the 11-6 game.
However Martz and the Rams went on to score 500 points the next 2 years!

Agree with that. What the Patz D did was unique to them in a lot of respects.

The idea that the Patz just repeated what the Bears did is just not credible.

And, not every team has the ability to scheme (coaching intelligence/experience), or the players to simply take everything away or totally befuddle McVay and Goff/the O.

Agreed but they do have some things in common, i.e a good d-line with the big run plugger in the middle.
