So will there be film on this workout for networks to air afterwards? I would imagine the pundits would be commenting on whether or not he still looks like viable NFL quarterback. There was a time, before they tried to make him a pocket passer, he was a dual threat.

I remember they had 3rd and long in a playoff game in Green Bay late in the game. Everyone including the defense knew he was going to run if he couldn't find a receiver right away. He runs for something like 18 yards and gets the first down. If he's ever going to get back in the NFL that is what they have to let him do.

But is it too late? He's been out of the football for so long I don't know if he's still a viable NFL quarterback. And this does smack of a PR stunt. Kap's people negotiated and got the NFL to give him this workout. If no one signs him he complains he's being blackballed and his cause gets a PR boost.

Does seem like a PR stunt - but, not by Kap.

From everything that's been said publicly, the NFL planned this and only gave him two hours to accept or decline with no choice in date or location.

Seems like the NFL wants to head off him saying they did nothing to help him have an opportunity with teams.

The NFL announced Thursday that 11 teams have committed to attend Colin Kaepernick's workout in Atlanta.

"We are looking forward to Saturday's workout with Colin," the league said in a statement. "Eleven teams -- Arizona, Atlanta, Cleveland, Denver, Detroit, Miami, New England, New York Giants, New York Jets, Tampa Bay, and Washington -- have already committed to attend, and it's only Thursday. With two days remaining until the workout, we expected additional teams to commit. Former NFL head coach Hue Jackson will lead the drills, and former NFL head coach Joe Philbin will be in attendance as well. We will send video of the workout and interview to all 32 teams, including head coaches and general managers."

NFL Network's Steve Wyche reported earlier Thursday that teams have until Saturday to submit the names of those who will attend Kaepernick's workout.

The NFL has arranged a private workout for Kaepernick that all 32 teams are welcome to attend. The session will include on-field work and an interview. Video of the workout and interview will be made available to all 32 teams, as well.

Wyche also reported Thursday that the wide receivers who will run routes for Kaepernick will be provided by the National Football Scouting Service that is in charge of staging the workout. The receivers are Atlanta area-based, and NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport added they are expected to be players who participated in preseason games, so they will have recent in-game experience.

Rapoport reported that the team reps in attendances likely will be pro personnel scouts.

Kaepernick, who last played for an NFL team in 2016, filed a grievance through the NFLPA against the league on Oct. 16, 2017. The grievance between Kaepernick and Eric Reid against the NFL was resolved in February. Specific terms, including finances, of the settlement were not released given the confines of the agreement.

QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is getting long in the tooth, so I hope Miami signs Kaepernick. :idea2:

I also hope CK does his first postgame interview wearing his famous Che Guevara T-shirt for all the Miami locals to see and internalize. :!2:

Then I hope he goes out clubbing that night in the Miami sector known as Little Havana. 8-)

i think some forget what a flop kaep was after 2013, in his final 3 years in the league, when in 2014 the niners moved away from their jumbo run-first scheme and asked kaep to become a passer... in his final 35 starts, from 2014-2016, he led the niners to 16.9 offensive points per game and posted an 11-24 record, the only reason the niners finished 8-8 in 2014, two years after their super bowl run, was because their defense ranked 9tth in offensive points allowed and carried the kaepernick-led 25th ranked scoring offense.

anyway, the cat is 32 years old, his value as a running qb seems likely gone, not sure why anyone would be interested in him as a passer.

Now the list is up to 24 teams.

I wonder if the Rams shouldn’t sign him and start him against the 49ers with this rag tag Oline. Then put him on injured reserve after the game. No guaranteed only for the remaining games this year :shock2:

Fricken hilarious....this guy is a freaking mess.

Representatives for former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick called an audible less than an hour before he was scheduled to work out for 25 NFL teams Saturday, moving the session to a high school in Riverdale, Ga. from the Atlanta Falcons training facility in Flowery Branch, 60 miles away.

The workout was pushed back an hour to 4 p.m. ET, possibly to give NFL scouts time to make it to the new location. However, the Associated Press reported that a number of scouts had already gone inside the Falcons' indoor training facility when word came of the change, while dozens of media had been set up in fenced-off parking next to the Falcons' facility.

Former NFL head coaches Hue Jackson and Joe Philbin had been set to run the drills.

In a statement tweeted by ESPN reporter Adam Schefter, Kaepernick reps Ben Meiselas and Jeff Nalley said the change in location to facilitate "a transparent and open process."

"From the outset, Mr. Kaepernick requested a legitimate process and from the outset the NFL league office has not provided one," Meiselas and Nalley wrote. "Most recently, the NFL has demanded that as a precondition to the workout, Mr. Kaepernick sign an unusual liability waiver that addresses employment-related issues and rejected the standard liability waiver from physical injury proposed by Mr. Kaepernick's representatives.

"Additionally, Mr. Kaepernick requested all media be allowed into the workout to observe and film it and for an independent film crew to be there to ensure transparency," the statement continued. "The NFL denied this request. Based on the prior conduct by the league office, Mr. Kaepernick simply asks for a transparent and open process which is why a new location has been selected for today. Mr. Kaepernick looks forward to seeing the representatives from the clubs today."

In a statement Saturday evening, the NFL said it was "disappointed that Colin did not appear for his workout," and added that the league was informed at the same time the general public was.
“ Today's session was designed to give Colin what he has consistently said he wants – an opportunity to show his football readiness and desire to return to the NFL," the league said. "Twenty-five (25) clubs were present for the workout, and all 32 clubs, their head coaches, general managers, and other personnel executives would have received video footage of the interview and workout, shot by the Atlanta Falcons video crew."

The league went on to claim that it had sent Kaepernick's reps "a standard liability waiver based on the waiver used by National Invitational Camp at all NFL Combines and by NFL clubs when trying out free agent players" on Wednesday, only for the quarterback's team to send "a completely rewritten and insufficient waiver" at noon Saturday.
The league also said that it only found out Friday night that Kaepernick wanted to bring his own video crew to record the workout. At the same time, the league said that it had agreed to a request from "Nike, with Colin's approval ... to shoot an ad featuring Colin and mentioning all the NFL teams present at the workout".

"We agreed to have Colin's representatives on the field while the workout was being conducted and to allow them to see how it was being recorded. We did so even though we have been clear from the beginning that this is [a] private workout," the league continued. "As is typical with NFL Combines, one video crew was prepared to shoot and distribute video of the interview and workout. We confirmed with Colin's representatives that they would receive both the video that would be sent to all 32 clubs as well as the raw footage from the entire event, which is unprecedented."

It was not known how many teams would be attending the workout in the new location.
Kaepernick, 32, has not played since 2016 when he suited up for the San Francisco 49ers. He helped start a wave of protests regarding social and racial injustice that season by kneeling during the national anthem at games.

The NFL in February settled a collusion grievance Kaepernick and former teammate Eric Reid filed against the league. Reid now plays for the Carolina Panthers.

"Colin's decision has no effect on his status in the League," the NFL's statement concluded. "He remains an unrestricted free agent eligible to sign with any club."
